Geocache Description:

This is the last cache in the Indiana Jones Trilogy. The coordinates above provide only a general location. You must first find the elusive Lost City of Atlantis and the Sankara Stones; and have a legendary Rapa Nui Spider Key. *5/4/2012 Update* To make it easier we added a new spider key. It is located directly under the locked metal box. You find the box by first completing the above two caches which each have half of the way point coordinates for this cache.

A sharp noise exploded suddenly in the dank room as Indy burst through the window, rolling roughly as he hit the ground. Indy stopped and looked around…cautiously. He rose, picked glass shards out of his leather jacket, and straightened his fedora hat. He said "All right, Jones, how are you gonna find it in all this junk?" as he curled the thick bullwhip back. He surveyed his surroundings. The room was starkly chaotic against the dusty beams of sunlight coming from the broken window behind him.

Jones´ predicament was understandable. All around him, archaeological artifacts lay strewn carelessly over benches, on shelves and in packing crates. The damp cellar itself was not considerably large, insofar as Indy could make out while his eyes adjusted to the gloom, but getting from one end to the other without breaking anything could prove rather tricky.

Indy looked around, indecisive. What should he be looking for? He recalled the passionate Brazilian who had come to see him about the artifact - what was his name again? ….. Ramon Lopez or something similar.

This relic then, what was it? The Brazilian had described it to him, in quite specific detail. It was a statue, possibly bronze or copper, and about a third of a meter high. The statue was a representation of a man - or a god. The face was composed of two triangular eyes, and a cruel taunting mouth filled with vicious looking teeth. On the crown, there would be a small hollow opening, into which hidden treasure could be inserted. The ancient relic had disappeared mysteriously years ago and now there were any number of fanatical treasure hunters out there searching for its whereabouts.

The Brazilian desperately wanted the relic. He alone, knew what opulence the image held inside – priceless RAPA NUI Balls. The pitiable fortune hunter already had acquired one of the Rapa Nui keys required to gain access to the secret map. However, the key had come at a steep price. Lopez had shown Indy the brutal scar across his neck; horribly inflicted by that dirty bastard Kraus. The wound was a result of a fierce knife battle for the fabled spider key of Rapa Nui.

The unfortunate Lopez had a key, but still did not have the starting point for the map. Indy knew that he too, at some point would have to obtain one of those special Rapa Nui keys. He shuddered at the thought; he detested spiders almost as much as his morbid fear of snakes. But now his mind was elsewhere; he was still looking around the dusty collection. A slight, fresh breeze was blowing from the broken window behind him. Indy was trying to remember why he'd started his search here. This was one of those times when he wished Aly, his partner in adventure, had decided to accompany him. Why she had picked this time to go shopping was beyond him. The university’s archeological archives had any number of better opportunities for discovery and excitement. Still, here he was alone, so why not make the best of the circumstances?

Indy walked gingerly away from the broken window into the interior of the chamber, hoping to see something that coincided slightly with the crazy Brazilian's description. As he moved away, an image on the shelf caught his eye. Indy turned toward it, shading his eyes from the sun. A dim shape loomed in front of him. The outline looked familiar..... Of course! He smiled fondly at the memory of his fellow adventurer. With that nudge, his semi-shaky memory dredged up the reason he had somewhat forcefully intruded into this subterranean vault. He needed to find the Ancient King. He ventured further into the dark reaches of the room. He entered a small alcove to the right and suddenly he knew he had found it. Indy walked forward, slowly. The lime stone manuscript began to coalesce in front of his eyes. A dusty, crumbling carving of a Babylonian King, complete with royal garb. The figure gazed intently across the water surrounding an ancient city by the sea. Spider webs covered the statue; as Indy drew closer he peered earnestly at the map…...could this be….the Lost City of Atlantis? Might he have to journey to Atlantis to discover evidence of the precious Rapa Nui relic itself?

Buoyed by this revelation, Indy reached out to brush some dust from the top of the stone tablet, when a trapdoor beneath his feet gave way, tumbling him into the darkness below….. "Oommphf!"

The impact as he hit the floor reverberated throughout his body. The back of his head caught the wooden floor hard, and for a moment black and purple flashing dots pin wheeled across his vision. Then it was just Indy, lying on his back, winded, with a sore rear end. He lay there for a minute or two, before groaning to his feet.

The room below was another unique collection, but far better organized - there were clearly marked shelves lining the walls. Indy walked over to one of them, rubbing the back of his head, and looked around. Carvings, pottery and paintings depicting the Hindu bird god Garuda all from the antediluvian civilization of Madripoor.

As Indy contemplated this turn of events, he recalled something else the bizarre Brazilian had divulged that night in the seedy tavern…Sankara Stones. The Brazilian had been drinking for some time at this point; as he threw back another shot of Ouzo, he laughed and snaked a dirty hand inside of his pocket. He pulled out a small amulet that held a curiously polished stone. He leaned into Indy’s grizzled mug and whispered “Sankara Stones”. “Find the Sankara Stones and you will be well on your way to finding the relic.” But hurry - that German scoundrel Kraus may already be ahead of you….

Back to the reality of the momemnt, Indy’s attention was caught by a thick Hessian rope by the trapdoor. With a little work, he could easily climb down the stairs even further using it for balance. Indy pulled the rope. It snagged, pulling against a wood statue of Garuda which pinned the rope to the ground - then, with a slow creak, the statue overbalanced, grazing Indy on the shoulder as it fell past. Indy staggered, put a foot out for balance - and plummeted down through the open hole……
