Geocache Description:

After the first two versions of this cache being constantly muggled I have changed it to a multi with GZ well away (3-4kms east) from the local Muggle....

Great Southern Road - Jugiong Mk3.

The Main Roads Management Act of June 1858 declared the Great Southern Road, from near Sydney through Goulburn and Gundagai to Albury, as one of the three main roads in the colony. Today we know it as the Hume Highway, named after Hamilton Hume.

Over the years the road has had a few name changes and seen many realignments, some minor and some major with entire towns being bypassed. This cache is on an old part of the Hume Hwy that was left behind when the Jugiong Bypass was built. If you have the time take a look at the alignment on Google Earth and you will see how they had to curve the road around so as to cross the Jugiong Creek at a right angle. Many years later the bypass crossed the creek at the same angle, which makes you wonder why they didn't go for the straighter approach in the first place. The listed coordinates are accessible for both North and South bound traffic, but please be careful crossing against the traffic.

The listed coordinates are the GZ for the second traditional cache and where you will find one important bit of information. The rest of the information can be found along Audley Rd.

GZ is  S34 48.EDC   E148 24.EAB, which is on another old section of the Highway.

NOTE: do not access GZ from the highway, there is a back road that offers good safe access.

AB = the sum of the two numbers where the yellow pig lives x 7

C = number of yellow rails in cattle grid western end of Audley Rd

D = half of the third number of the year on the bridge

E = number of kilometers to the winery, less 3
