[EN] The Riga HES is the 2nd largest HES of Latvia (After Plavinas
HES in Aizkraukle), with 402 MW of total turbine power and a total
of 792.5 GWH of electrical power in 2009.
The HES started its operation September 1975, but was planned as
early as in year 1910. The project was cancelled because of World
War I. The building was started in year 1967 and was totally
completed on August 20, 1985.
This cache takes you to the lodes of Riga HES where an old
pumping station can be found as well as several lodes that are ment
for fish to get around the HES. The cache is located on a metal
bridge above one of the fish trenches. The place cannot be directly
accessed by car and the easiest way to get there is from the main
Riga ringroad.
Please be very careful when you take and put the cache back,
put in exactly the same location as due to uncarefulness it can
float away!!!
