Urenui is a popular summer holiday camping spot – close to beaches and good fishing spots. New Plymouth is a 30 minute drive away. Urenui beach is a bit rough for swimming, but the adjacent river mouth is a great place to cool down on a hot day.
Play on the mudflats, fish off the swing bridge, play golf on the nine-hole course, visit Sir Peter Buck's (Te Rangihiroa) birth place and eat fish and chips at Yandle park while watching the sunset.
