This cache has been archived.

bsurin65: I tried to archive this cache several weeks ago, but it doesn't seem to have posted my log.

As I haven't been geocaching for quite a while, I think it's time to archive my caches.

Geocache Description:

Chess is believed to have originated in India around the 6th century, where a game called Chaturanga utilised pieces representing the four divisions of the military. The earliest evidence of the game - referred to as ‘chatrang’ - can be found in Persian literature dating around the year 600. Chatrang was embraced by the Muslim world following the conquest of Persia some three to four decades later, and came to be known as ‘shatranj’. By the year 1000, the game had spread through Europe, and was known by various names in different countries. However, in much of Europe its name was replaced by versions of the Persian word ‘shah’ (king), which has become the English word ‘check’. Around the year 1200, the rules of shatranj started to change in southern Europe, and around 1475, several major changes made the game essentially as it is known today.

An estimated 600 million people worldwide know how to play chess. But you don’t need to be one of them to find this cache.
