“INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST”

The Indiana Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of small, rural, historic cemeteries built by Hoosier Pioneers in central Indiana. You can map out a route and get a bunch of ‘em in one trip and at the same time learn a little about our history.

INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST #32
”Lost Ark GeoRaiders”

Following the trail to this quest will take you to shady Shiloh Cemetery, Sec.24, TWP 29, Range 5, Pleasant Township, Wabash County Indiana. This cemetery was associated with the Shiloh Presbyterian Church, established in 1840, and contains tombstones dating to that era, including those of Civil War Vets. Here lies GRACE GIRTIE SCHULLER (Ask your grandpa who “Gravel Girtie” was in the old “Lil Abner” comic strip)

SHILOH was a biblical city north of Bethel. The name means “Place of Rest”, appropriate for a graveyard. BUT Shiloh was one of the earliest and most sacred of Hebrew Sanctuaries. The Ark of the Covenent was kept at Shiloh from the last days of Joshua to the time of Samuel. For those of you not up on your Old Testament or your Indiana Jones, the Ark (a golden chest) was an all powerful relic that contained the stone Tablets, the divine autograph of the Ten Commandments, as well as the pot of manna and the rod of Aaron…Its whereabouts are unknown from the time of the destruction of the first temple in Jeruselem…but some think it is in the hands of the Ethiopian Christian Church…However, others interpret the Revelation of St. John the Divine to indicate that the ark is no longer on earth, but in Heaven.

The cache container is one of our patented super micro containers, about the same size as a film canister.Nope, now it's a peanut butter jar. The clue below is a spoiler. If you find a fallen U.S. flag, please stick it back in the ground, preferably next to a Vet’s Marker. As always, please be respectful, and cache in, trash out.
