No seu terceiro ano na Escola de Magia e Bruxaria de Hogwarts, Harry Potter teve conhecimento de um artefacto deveras peculiar - o Mapa do Salteador (The Marauder’s Map).
Este mapa, de cariz algo duvidoso numa perspectiva moral (dirão alguns!), foi criado por Remus Lupin, Petter Pettigrew, Sirius Black e James Potter, progenitor do próprio protagonista desta saga.
During his third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry Potter became aware of a truly unique artifact - the Marauder’s Map.
This map, somehow fishy in a moral perspective (some might say!), was created by Remus Lupin, Petter Pettigrew, Sirius Black and James Potter, father to this saga’s main character.
Por entre as dobras deste velho mas sábio pergaminho, a tinta ganha vida, mostrando todas as movimentações de quem por este castelo se passeia.
Desconhece-se, por completo, o principal intuito desta criação, mas calcula-se que uma informação privilegiada acerca do paradeiro de todas as bruxas e feiticeiros transeuntes nos meandros deste berço da Magia tenha trazido as suas vantagens em certas peripécias menos ortodoxas.

Pelas mãos de Fred e George Weasley, Harry tornou-se o novo dono deste objecto e, quer por mera curiosidade, quer pela necessidade de se esquivar de situações menos abonatórias, dele usufruiu até o término da sua formação nesta escola.

Com excepção da Sala das Necessidades e da Câmara dos Segredos, assuntos muito pouco relevantes para a missão que aqui lhe incumbimos, todas as divisões de Hogwarts ficam expostas ao olhar indiscreto do possuidor deste mapa.
Será que, nas mãos de um astuto geocacher, este mapa poderá revelar o caminho para um outro recanto mágico?
With the exception of the Room of Requirement and the Chamber of Secrets, subjects of little importance for your task, all of Hogwarts’ divisions are exposed to the indiscreet look of this map’s possessor.
