Home town proud. Here are a few reasons. My grandparents, and parents were all born, raised, and lived within fifteen miles of Marshall. I graduated from Marshall high school. My two children graduated from Marshall and the University of Illinois with engineering degrees.
Marshall is home to the Archer House hotel. It is one of the oldest hotels in Illinois. Lincoln once stayed there. It is still open and has been refurbished. (Hotel is now closed). Marshall is home to a TRW plant and Charles industries. Marshall has its’ own backup electric generating plant. The Clark County court house is down town. Every Friday night in the summer there are free concerts at the bandstand located on the courthouse lawn. There are several nice shops down town.
Just south of town is Lincoln Trail state park with a lake, a nice campground, geocaches, and a restaurant. The resturant has a nice view of the lake.
Just northwest of town is Mill Creek Park. It has boating, camping, and geocaches. There are also some geocaches in the park. There is a restaurant nearby (closed Monday and Tuesday).
