Geocache Description:

A difficult puzzle cache hidden along Catalina's beautiful coast that can only be reached during low tide and with a kayak or boat to reach the shore.

THESE ARE NOT THE ACTUAL COORDINATES OF THE CACHE. Named after the extraordinary accumulation of shells along the beach, the cache is located along Catalina's northeastern coast between Hamilton Cove and Campus By the Sea. It cannot be reached by land alone. I strongly recommend renting a kayak at Descanso Beach (there are online coupons for a free second hour rental) and kayaking to the waypoint described, from which point you will be able to traverse to the cache's location during low tide. Because of dangerous conditions, I would definitely NOT recommend traveling during high tide. Wear good water shoes and beware slippery rocks! The cache is a small to medium sized cylindrical tupperware container with a red top hidden at about eye-height in the cliff side behind small rocks. Please replace the rocks after finding it. The cache begins with an assortment of tchotchkes, a log book and pencil. Watch out for kayaking muggles. Thanks! Be careful and have fun!

Use the picture below to find the coordinates of the waypoint, the location of the beach where you should come ashore.
