Geocache Description:

Come and be shipwrecked, along with Captain Morgan.

After a wonderful 21 days on a cruise on the Zuiderdam, from Vancouver, Canada, through the Panama Canal, this lovely beach was our final port-of-call. It is a perfect location to end this very fun vacation, and is just as pictured in the brochures for all the great Caribbean beaches, with pristine, clear, turquoise water, and a litter free sand beach, that extends for several miles.

Caching was a bit disappointing during the cruise with little or no opportunity to actually hunt for a geocache in several Mexico ports and Guatemala, Puerto Rico, and Columbia, because of where we docked or anchored, or time restraints, or no excursions to locations where caches were located.

I was quite delighted to be able to find 2 other caches here, and also to have the opportunity to place one of my own.

Cache is placed with permission of land manager Carlos, who will also help maintain it for me. He was quite aware of the other caches on the island, and their status.

This may be a real "lost Pirate Treasure", since the coordinates may not be accurate. They disappeared from my GPS on the trip home, so if you can take coords when you find it, I will appreciate it, and will update them when I get new ones. Cache should be easily findable using the hint and photo spoilers.

Small note on cache maintenance: There is a local cache guardian. Name and contact info on file with geocaching.com.

Just posted on Holland America's Facebook page, 11-17-11
Holland America Line We are celebrating because Half Moon Cay was just named Best Private Island in the Porthole Cruise Magazine's 13th Annual Readers' Choice Awards! Thanks readers! What is your favorite (HMC!) island memory?

Update 11-26-11 Many thanks to Hid Pro Quo for replacing the cache for me, and sending the correct coords. (I wasn't too far off in my guess). Congratulations also to him and his lovely GeoKath on their engagement here on the Island.

Apparently this one keeps going missing, so if each of you could have a replacement with you when you come to search, then you can still claim a smiley if you replace it for me. Please give it a good look first, so we don't end up with 20 containers here.

Update 1-26-12: Changing the size to micro, since that is what the replacements seem to be.

Another update. Thanks to Bon Scott for replacing the temp cup container with a real small Tupperware with a maroon lid. Returned size to small.

Not sure why this one keeps going missing, since management knows about it and gave approval.

Update: 10-11-12 Many thanks to Pop-Pop7 for replacing the cache for me. Read his log to get an additional hint or two. Stay away from the bush on the right side of hole. It has big sharp thorns!

Update: 11-30-13 Visited the cache while on a Zuiderdam cruise to the Panama Canal. Replaced the bow pill bottle with a green hanging waterproof container just inside the port side bow hole hanging on a nail. Should just be one container there now. Update July 2022, container is now a small Tupperware container located just outside the hole of the ship.
