El Cap de Ses Salines es el extremo sur de Mallorca. Se puede llegar en la carretera Ma-6110 de Ses Salines. A excepción de un pequeño lugar de arena idílico, la costa es rocosa y cae fácilmente al mar. La playa es más para individualistas y amantes de la naturaleza. Das Cap de Ses Salines ist der südlichste Zipfel von Mallorca. Man kommt über die Landstraße Ma-6110 von Ses Salines aus dorthin. Bis auf einen kleinen idyllischen Sandfleck ist die Küste felsig und fällt leicht zum Meer hin ab. Der Strand ist eher etwas für Individualisten und Naturliebhaber. Das Cap de Ses Salines ist naturbelassen, ruhig und ein idealer Ort, um das Rauschen des Meeres zu genießen oder die vielen Vögel zu beobachten.

Entsprechend der salinaren Abscheidungsfolge fallen die Salze aus der bald übersättigten Lösung aus: zuerst Gips/Anhydrit, dann Steinsalz (Kochsalz), Kali- und Magnesiumsalze zum Schluss (Salzverwitterung). In Gesteinshohlräumen werden Salze ausgeschieden und kristallisieren, sobald die Salzkonzentration in der Lösung in Folge der Verdunstung ansteigt, oder wenn die Temperatur einer beinahe gesättigten Lösung sinkt. Der dabei entstehende, gerichtete Kristallisationsdruck, greift das Gestein mechanisch an. Der Prozess wird durch wiederholtes Befeuchten (Hydratationsverwitterung) und Austrocknen besonders wirksam, findet also in wechselfeuchten Gebieten seine größte Verbreitung.

Sie weisen oft kugel- bis nierenförmige Hohlräume mit einem Durchmesser von wenigen Zentimetern bis zu einem halben Meter auf, die der Form eines Bienenwabenmusters gleichen können.
