This cache is located in Whitewater State Park on your way to the lookout known as Coyote Point. Since this is a State Park, please have a Season Parking Permit or Day Parking Pass. Follow the signs along Highway 74 to the Visitor Center/Park Office.

The terrain rating is for the stairs (300+) that lead directly to the top of Coyote Point from a nearby parking lot. To get you started, look for the "Dakota Trail". If you want to save the stairs for the way down, start at the Visitor Center/Park Office and look for "Coyote Point Trail".
The overall difficulty is partly due to the terrain and partly due to the location of the cache. Though the cache itself is hidden from sight, you would not be hidden from sight at the cache (Nature-Muggles visit this location frequently). You can be seen from many directions, especially the trail!!!. During winter months, be especially aware of any trail you leave behind, cover your tracks.
Because this is a State Park, there is minimum disruption to the setting, meaning cache is no more than 3-4ft from the trail. You will not need to get to the top of Coyote Point to find the cache. However, reaching the top is highly recommended to complete the experience!!! Please enjoy the view safely, as well as the park.
As a reminder for any cache, but especially one in a State Park with animals-No Food of any variety should ever be placed in a cache (that includes, but is not limited to candy, drink mixes, gum,...). Our noses may not smell it, but wildlife can!!! All State Parks are a great opportunity to practice CITO, please leave Whitewater better than you found it.
