This is a tricky cache to get to. Once upon a time you were allowed to fish these waters, not so now. Back in those days you would be able to walk over the hill and follow it to down the other side to GZ. Now however you have to either bash your way through the gorse or make your way around the waters edge.
I will leave it up to you to figure out which way you will take to get to GZ.
I headed up the side of the hill to the top and bush bashed my way through to place the cache, I had a lot of trouble and was almost going to give up, but I was half way there so I decided to push on.
When I got to GZ I thought about using a micro on the tower, and if I have to replace it, this may be the cache, but I decided to make it a medium size clip it. It is near the edge of the hillside so please be careful.
When I had placed the cache I headed down to the beach and headed back.
The beach will be easier to take, until you get to the rock wall you will have to make your way around. You have to find a way to the tip of the point. Watch your step and don't destroy the bush too much.

The Reotahi coastal walkway is described here as a single walk although it can be walked in shorter sections. It can also form part of a circular walk in conjunction with the Mount Aubrey track.
What's special about Reotahi
This is an easy walk along a stunning piece of coastline within the Whangarei Harbour. It skirts the Reotahi Marine Reserve and the remains of an historic meat processing plant with views over to the Marsden Point port and oil refinery.
