Park at N 41 10.331 W 111 55.490 by the 'No Parking between 8pm and 8am signs'. Better make this a day hike. The locals don't seem to like night hikers. You will be happier wearing your hiking boots, but other shoes will make it just fine. Cache is an ammo can.
Caution: DON'T trust Mr. Pointer. The canyon and trees will cause the pointer to lead you astray. Could only get an accuracy of 25 ft, on average, because of the canyon walls and tree cover.
Just follow the babbling brook up the canyon for a ways. The cache is within 25 feet of the trail, away from the creek. You might have to cross the creek a time or two, depending on the route you choose.
Geology of the area.
Notice the light and dark banded gray rocks all around and under your feet. They are gneiss (sounds like nice) from the 1.5 billion year old Farmington Complex at the base of the Wasatch fault here in Northern Utah. You can see
more of these dark 1.5 billion year old metamorphic rocks at the mouth of Weber and Ogden canyons, just below the light colored Tintic Quartzite. These rocks are as old as the rocks at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. After you find the cache, take a moment to see the contorted light and dark banding in the boulders of gneiss around you.
