Parasite – An animal or plant that lives on or in another
organism at whose expense it obtains nourishment and shelter.
Spawn – Offspring produced in large numbers.
On December 7, 2000 I found the original Parasite Cache created
by mudbug65 with the intention of quickly re-stashing it in another
cache. But life is what happens when you are making plans and it
sat in the garage in my cache equipment storage box for 3 weeks.
After placing it, I forgot all about it…until late last
week. I went out to my cache equipment storage box and found 3 more
parasite caches --- THE SPAWN! In order to keep them from spawning
again I will release them in 3 separate caches as soon as
possible.
The instructions for maintaining the spawn remain the same as
The Parasite Cache.
These parasitic spawn caches live inside ammo cans. They have
their own container, logbook and trade goods. However, being a
parasite, it cannot survive on it’s own and as a result it
must infect an existing cache.
If you decide to help it find a new host, please remember
to:
1) Email me through my geocaching.com profile page to let me
know that you have taken possession of it, what number it is (#1,
#2 or #3) and where you have moved it to.
2) Be certain that you log your visit on this page AND the page
for the cache you found it at so I can keep track of it.
3) Please don’t move these caches out of the state of
Georgia…
4) Do not place in event type caches. Mass signings are not
acceptable. That will be considered a non-fullfillment of the cache
requirements and an abuse of the "Traveling Cache". And I will
delete the logs.
As you can tell the entire page of the Parasite Cache has nearly
(99.9%) been copied.
The original idea for the Parasite Cache (GC25ED) was created by
the infamous and creative mudbug65 (We Miss You – Come Back
Soon). It has become a popular but rare cache find. In order to not
confuse anyone who may come upon the Spawn with different
instructions, I am trying to keep all parasites as similar as
possible except for the names. I have nothing but admiration and
respect for mudbug65. It is not my intention to steal his idea, but
to build on it.
