Geocache Description:

Cache is located at a new Museum about the Vietnam War that opened in late 2009.

This cache is dedicated to all the men and woman who have fought for our country and have sacrificed much to ensure our freedom today. The museum here tells the stories of American soldiers who served in Vietnam and is dedicated to help educate everyone about the Vietnam War. The museum is full of informational and historical remnants including a library of books, pictures, maps, and audio visual materials. There is always someone available here to answer questions. Please take a few minutes to visit this great museum.

The cache is also dedicated to one individual who I met last summer on an USAirways flight to Florida. The gentleman next to me turned out to be a retired USAirways pilot who had started his flying career in May 1968. His name is Doc Clement and he was straight out of flight school when he set off for Vietnam. He also co-wrote a book with Jim Hooper: A HUNDRED FEET OVER HELL (FLYING WITH THE MEN OF THE 220th RECON AIRPLANE COMPANY OVER I CORPS AND THE DMZ, VIETNAM 1968-1969) by Jim Hooper, published by Zenith Press. It is a true account of a few valiant young pilots flying propeller-driven Cessna O-1 Bird Dogs over hostile terrain. Theses pilots flew in an area up against the Demilitarized Zone in I Corps, the northern-most combat zone in South Vietnam. They risked their lives daily in order to support ground troops by finding and stopping the enemy before they could attack and supported these troops with artillery and air strikes when battle was joined.

We talked a lot about Geocaching and we made a deal. He would send me a signed copy of his book, and I would hide a new cache about the Vietnam War.

The cache: You are looking for an ammo box (what else?) located outside of the museum. I have permission from the board of directors and they all know the cache is hidden there. They requested that caching only be done during daylight hours and preferably during the museum hours. The hours are: Monday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday-Sunday 12 noon to 5 pm. Please note that a member living nearby has a webcam set up to monitor the back of the museum. He also knows about the cache.

Cache is NOT on or near the yellow helicopter nor is it near the white storage shed (neither were there when I hid the cache originally).
