******* ******* ******* (FIN) Kuhmalahden kirkko seisoo edelleen samalla kalliorinteellä, jonne paikkakunnan väki on kokoontunut jumalanpalveluksiin jo lähes 350 vuoden ajan. Kuhmalahden kirkko on rakennettu vuosina 1845-1846 ja sen on suunnitellut arkkitehti E. Lohrman. Kellotapuli on rakennettu jo vuonna 1780, edellisen kirkon yhteyteen. Edellinen kirkko oli rakennettu vuonna 1664 ja sen käydessä ahtaaksi rakennettiin samalle paikalle uusi kirkko. Erillisiä kellotapuleita rakennettiin kirkkojen yhteyteen etenkin 1700-luvulla. Tapulit ovat alueittain samankaltaisia ja kirkkojen tapaan yleensä kansanrakentajien taidonnäytteitä. Puukirkkoja sai tehdä vain poikkeusluvalla mm. puutavaran säästämiseksi, mistä syystä 1800-luvulle tultaessa yhä useammin edellytettiin kellotornikin rakennettavaksi osaksi kirkkoa. Kuhmalahden tapuli kirkon ja hautausmaan kupeessa on komea maamerkki. Monen tapulin, kuten tämänkin, kattomuodoissa on barokille tyypillisiä, kaarevia muotoja. The church is built during the years 1845-1846 and it is designed by the architect E. Lohrman. The bell-tower is from the year 1780. The previous church was built in 1664 in the same place and was replaced with the new church because of the overcrowding. Separate bell-towers were built especially during the 18th century. They are usually typical for a specific area and were built by famous church builders. To build a wooden church required a special licence to save wood materials. In the 19th century the bell-tower was normally built as a part of the church building. The impressive bell-tower besides the Church of Kuhmalahti has also the round roof shapes, which are typical for baroque buildings. (Source: internet)
