Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates. If you show up there with GPS receiver in hand, you're likely to be taken down by a member of the governor's security detail; it is within two miles, though.

This cache honors my favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. As a boy growing up in Evansville, Indiana, I became a Cubs fan in 1979 when cable television came to our household. With cable TV came Chicago "superstation" WGN, broadcasting daytime baseball from the friendly confines of Wrigley Field. (Imagine, had I discovered first the other superstation, Atlanta's WTBS, you might know me as BravesChris instead.)

The late Jack Brickhouse was the play-by-play announcer in those days, and one of my earliest sports memories is his signature call of "Hey-Hey" when a Cubs player hit a home run. I remember one game in particular where an unheralded Cub--I think it might have been catcher Barry Foote--hit a game-winning homer in the bottom of the ninth inning. I had never seen anything like that, a team going from losing to winning with one swing of the bat. I was hooked. Never mind that the Cubs' losses would outnumber the wins for many years to come.

Your first step to solving this puzzle will be to identify nine of the all-time greatest Cubs players from their baseball cards below. You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.
