Geocache Description:

[CZ]

Vyvery i ponory se obvykle nachazeji v krasovych oblastech. Jednim z mist Moravskeho krasu, kde lze vyvery pozorovat, je Josefovske udoli. Zde si predstavime pet nejvyznamnejsich.

Vyvery Jedovnickych vod (1)

Olomucansky vyver (2)

Vyver naproti Jachymce (3)

Vyvery Krtinskeho potoka (5)

2. Na muj email odeslete odpovedi na nasledujici otazky:
     a) Jaka je nadmorska vyska kamenu u vyveracky (viz. obrazek)?
     b) Kam se vleva Jedovnicky potok?
     c) Jakou byla barva vyverajici vody v dobe vasi navstevy?

Necekejte na potvrzeni a rovnou se zalogujte. Ozvu se pouze v pripade chybne odpovedi.

The coordinates will lead you to the place where underground water stream stems rises to the surface. Such a place is called karst spring. The opposite of karst spring is ponor, which is the place where the water stream flows to the underground. E.g. the Ponory Ricky / Ponors of the Ricka river(GC1HNPR)engages in ponors.

Karst springs and ponors can usually be found in karst areas. One of the places in the Moravian Karst where karst springs can be observed is Josefov valley. We will present five most important carst springs.

Karst springs of Jedovnice waters (1)
This is a system of three karst springs through which (after 5km of underground water from Rudice pit) the Jedovnice creek comes to the surface riverbed again. These karst springs can be found 200m to the west of Byci skala. There used to be only one active karst spring, the other two happen to be open in the quarry that is directly connected with the karst spring. These karst springs changed significantly during the last century due to the stone mining.

Karst spring of Olomucany (2)
A strong stream from unknown cave space can be found 300m to the west from the karst spring of Jedovnicky creek. In 1928-1929 the karst spring was adjusted as a source of water for Adamov.

Karst spring across from Jachymka (3)
It can be found under a limestone rock near the Jachymka cave and stretches partly into the road. It is located about 400m to the west of Josefov. The creek rises under the road, in summer you can discover the place according to a more luxuriant vegetation.

Karst springs near Svycarna (4)
Another of the karst springs in Josefov valley is located across from the Stara hut (Old ironworks), near Svycarna. It rises from a limestone hillside which has been separated from the rest of the limestone Josefov valley by Brno volcanic rock. The creek used to rise from a small cave, which the owner of a near house had adjusted as a cellar, now water flows to the surface through an iron pipe and the spring has been adjusted as a well.

Karst springs of Krtinsky creek (5)
This is a system of four karst springs. The first one is a flood karst spring which creates a blind branch of a creek that mostly runs dry. The second karst spring connected with pit is called Otevrena skala (Open rock) where the creek rises and disappears again. This was created due to a rock block that broke off during the road construction. Another of the karst spring was uncovered during the road construction, later covered on again and now the karst spring is hardly visible, covered with a bridge. The last karst spring is located under the Kostelik cave.

The necessary tasks for logging:
1. Add your photo with a GPS made near the karst spring at the start coordinates (for alone cachers a photo of their GPS will do).
2. Send answers to the folowing questions to my e-mail:
     a) What is the altitude of the stones at the karst spring (see the picture)?
     b) Where does the Jedovnicky creek flow into?
     c) What colour was the water during your visit?
