Geocache Description:

Caudale Moor is another Wainwright summit cache. The summit itself is known as Stoney Cove Pike. The latter sounds much grander and more exciting than the former. One wonders why Wainwright opted for the mundane 'Moor' rather than the uplifting 'Pike'.

This cache has recently been adopted to prevent it being archived. Obviously these ‘mountain’ caches are harder to maintain than their lowland or urban cousins. They may well be at less risk from thoughtless removal; but they are much more exposed to the ravages of the weather. In order to make a cache owners life more bearable it would be nice if all hill walking cachers would take some responsibility for their maintenance by carrying a small clip lock box, spare log sheet and pencil. If the cache contains wet or damp material please remove it. If the box is not substantial enough then replace it. If it is blowing a hoolie then consider whether you really need to open the box just to sign the log – we’ll all believe you – or take a picture and post it. If for some reason you DNF then please log that – it all helps monitor the cache for us – some caches go for months between visits, especially through the winter months.
