Nedre Slottsgate løper fra Myntgata ved Bankplassen like ved Akershus festning til Grensen. Gaten er en av tverrgatene i Christianias opprinnelige byplan. Den het Slotsgaden inntil 1750. Gatebildet domineres av restauranter og forretninger. Teatermuseet (Gamle rådhus) ligger i Nedre Slottsgate.

This cache is part of a geocaching game in Oslo, called Geopol. The cache series shows all streets in the norwegian version of the Monopoly game, with emphasis on historic places and how our city has changed over the years. Nedre Slottsgate is located in the old part of Oslo as you can see from some of the buildings here. The city centre was built here after a large fire in 1624. The danish-norwegian king Christian IV decided to rebuild the city north of the Akershus castle and fortress, and the city was named Christiania. The old city hall was located in Nedre Slottsgate number 1 between 1641 and 1733. The picture shows the Prinsensgate and the Royal Castle from a rooftop approximately from where the cache is located.
