The summit of the walk, at least to our eyes. All downhill from here, with wide views of Bradda and Port Erin ahead. The old ruined breakwater becomes more obvious as the path descends towards it, especially if the tide is low. Built at great expense, the construction involved the laying of a railway to carry materials out from Port Erin. The idea of the breakwater was to attract cross-Atlantic liners to land their passengers, who would take the train to Douglas and the short(ish) ferry trip from there. It all seems rather pointless to me, in any case the breakwater only lasted a few years before the winter storms destroyed it. The blocks are moving a little still, the silhouette changes from year to year.
The cache should be an instant find here, a stone beside the path. Please leave it the right way up, a silly request as I know you all would anyway!
