During the weekend of April 30-May 1, the North Carolina Geocachers
Organization (NCGO) will be sponsoring several "Cache In Trash
Out" (CITO) events throughout the state. This is a great
opportunity for us to help out the fine parks and trails that are
home to so many of our caches and events. What better way to say
THANKS? This Triad Geocachers event will be held on April 30th at
the Piedmont trail. The Parks department has built a new boardwalk
on this trail but need help removing the old boardwalk. This will
be our chance to really give back to the community by helping in
the construction of the watershed trail. Much of the old broadwalk
is lying on the side of the trail and just needs to be hauled out,
but some of it is still in place and if we are up for it, we can
help remove and haul it out too.
Items you may consider bringing:
- Heavy duty gloves
- Dollys, wagons or carts that could be used to move trash
- Safety googles
- Work boots
- Hammer and tools to disassemble the boardwalk
Please be sure to dress accordingly. There may be poisonous
plants and critters so long pants are strongly suggested. We
will need to be very careful, especially for NAILS in the boards.
All geocachers, their families, and friends are welcome to join
us at this worthwhile event. With a just a little joint effort, we
can have a great impact throughout the state and represent
Geocaching at its finest. Please log a "Will Attend" today!
I assume parking will be an issue so I have put in waypoints for
the two nearest parking locations. There will be a bit of a walk
from parking to the trail head but its on a paved greenway so it
shouldn't be too bad. Besides, we're geocachers! Still, please DO
NOT park on Strawberry Road proper. If you can't fit into the
parking location off Strawberry Road, please go to parking location
2 which is just around the corner.

CITO event.
