This circular walk around Halvana Plantation is around 6 kilometres and is mostly on the gravel pathways. One of the paths can get a bit muddy.
Please note there are a few mine shafts near the recommended parking that have been covered with metal cone frames so I recommend exercising caution with dogs and children in this area.
The tracks are suitable for bicycles, horses, and in the most part child buggies.
There is stream running through the woods where your geohound might be able to get a drink which I have marked as a waypoint on Halvana Hike 1 - GC767WM.
Halvana and Foxtor mines at one time were worked separately but later combined. Halvana mine was started about 1843, Foxtor possibly about the same time and the combined mines were worked until 1918. Only small amounts of tin and wolfram seem to have been sold. They were operated under the Halvinna Fox Tor and Red Hill Tin Mining Company Ltd and which was dissolved in 1883. The remains of the Halvana workings are now under the forestry plantings in this wood.
The hides are not meant to be particularly challenging and where possible clear hints have been given.
Cache placed in accordance with the GAGB Forestry Commission Peninsular District agreement.
