Similarly breathtaking it might have been to see the building rush in Kittsee, 100 years ago. Those who were returning back from the USA (80 people from Kittsee went there to earn some money) were often surprised to see how many new houses were being built here. One of them compared the building rush of Kittsee to that of Chicago. And people liked the comparison. So now there is a whole part of Kittsee called Chicago. Or Chikago, to be accurate. SK: Na súradniciach z hlavičky listingu kešku nehľadajte. Nájdete tu akurát príjemnú lavičku, pitnú vodu a dobíjaciu stanicu pre elektrobajk. Voda a oddychové prístrešky s lavičkami a stolmi sú na rakúskych cyklocestách bežné, ale tá zásuvka pre e-bike ma ohromila. Od vedecko-technologického ohúrenia mi padla sánka.
Podobne možno boli ohúrení niektorí spomedzi navrátilcov z USA, ktorí tam pred 100 rokmi húfne chodili za prácou a peniazmi, keď po svojom návrate do Kittsee zbadali čulý stavebný ruch, ktorý tu vládol. Jeden z nich to vraj prirovnal k stavebnému boomu v Chicagu. Toto pomenovanie sa ujalo a odvtedy je Chicago, alebo vlastne Chikago aj tu, v Kittsee.
