A great picnic area, camp ground and beach in a secluded location with a geocache - what could be better?
Stay a week and relax (believe me you will) or just do the cache it is up to you, but what ever you do don't miss the beach. A secluded spot; I have never seen the beach with more than 5 people on it and today we were the only ones there. (I don't go there in holiday season so I can't say whether it is busier then, but with only 50 camp sites it will never be crowded.) There is a nominal fee payable to camp but day access is free.
Aragunnu is my favourite beachworming haunt, and beachworm is whiting's favourite bait, and whiting is my one of my favourite fish so I come here from time to time to drag a bag of fish along the edge of the surf and grab the little critters when they come up for a look. They are quick and it does take practice but it is worth it. They are plentiful here. It is a beautiful place.
It is worth exploring a little further north too, 800metres to the north are the Mimosa Rocks and a completely different beach. The contrast between the two is almost unbelievable considering how close they are.
This camp area is a credit to the local NPS. Great bush campsites, toilets, both BBQ's and firewood for the firepits, and waste and recycling. All without losing the bush camp feel.
The cache is a large (several litre) Sistema container that is well concealed not far from vehicle access. Please leave it well covered as you find it. It is not obvious and if it remains that way it will not be interfered with.

Located next to Aragunnu in the north of the park, the Mimosa Rocks are massive blocks of weathered volcanic rock named after the Mimosa steamship, which was wrecked here in 1863. A 200 m board-walk suitable for wheelchairs leads to a viewing platform ( but not to the cache :o) ), with signs interpreting the Aboriginal significance of the area.
The area north of Aragunnu is well worth visiting. Spend a few hours climbing on the rocky pinnacles, exploring shaded gullies and enjoying the spectacular coastal scenery, although there are no marked or formed tracks. The underwater gardens that fill the coves near the Mimosa Rocks are a fascinating place to snorkel or scuba dive.
Camping and picnic facilities are provided at Aragunnu.(50 tent spaces)
Location: Aragunnu, northern area of the Mimosa Rocks National Park.
Access: 2wd car access, via unpaved roads.
Facilities: Pit/composting toilets, electric/gas barbecues, wood barbecues, firewood supplied
Things to do: From here you can take a short walk to the Mimosa Rocks volcanic rock formation, Aragunnu Beach and some good fishing spots. You can park your car either on on beside your campsite.
