HAMSTERRAGE
Nothing special here, but look to the south and you see the Caravan Park. In a past life this was the place where the Nimrods would turn around on their final approach to land at Kinloss Runway 26 and 'Final, Gear Down' was the call made to Air Traffic. Despite all the modern gizmos we would always rather fly a visual circuit and the Caravan park was a great aiming point to make sure we 'got it right'. Not over it, but around it! Halcyon days, Moray is quieter but not perhaps better for her demise. Now look to the NW on the other side of the Road, to 2 small hilly lumps. At 14:50 hours on 27 June 1990, it was just over these lumps that Canberra WH972 crashed after suffering engine problems. The Navigator ejected safely and survived but the Pilot sadly died after ejecting too late. Perhaps 'sweet and sour'. There are little bits of history all around us, we just have to look and sometimes have a guide to show the way.
