The northern outpost of the Franconian Alb is called 'Staffelberg'. His layer result from the lower Dogger up in the Malm and offers a comprehensive law profile. The slopes show particularly stages ("Staffeln"), which have contributed to the naming of the mountain.
At the coordinates given on top you find an information board. There, you learn more about the geology of the 'Staffelberg'.
In order to log this earthcache, you have to answer following questions and conditions respectively:
1. What kinds of rock does the summit rock exist?
are the two types of rock is the summit rocks?
2. In which era of geological history has the Staffelberg originated?
3. On the plateau of the 'Staffelberg' stands a chapel. In what year was it rebuilt?
Optional task: You can attach two photos to your log at geocaching.com. A picture of you in front of the information board "Juraprofil Staffelberg" and a second image of the 'Staffelberg'
Please send the answers to my e-mail address through my GC-profile. Do not wait for my log permission, if the answers are incorrect, I will contact you!
Note: The 'Juraprofil Staffelberg' is one of Bavaria's most beautiful geotopes. Other interesting geotopes can be found on the website of the Bavarian Enviroment Agency.
