Geocache Description:

The hidden gems of Christianshavn

**ENGLISH DESCRIPTION BELOW**

Start: Grifferne i Overgaden oven Vandet

WP3: Will Eisners "Det flyvende menneske" gavlmaleri

ENGLISH

Experience three colorful places on Christianshavn

The neighbourhood of Christianshavn is a very colorful place with all kinds of people and a rich history. It features several very well known tourist attractions, where a trip into the Freetown of Christiania and a climb to the top of Our Savior's Church are among the most popular, but we have other hidden gems that are worth searching out.

You will be guided to three such places and have to take a picture at each location in order to log this cache:

Start: The griffins in Overgaden oven Vandet

At the start coordinates you will find some colorfully decorated railings.

The owner of the little workshop facing the canal has decorated the railing griffins for his small staircase in a very colorful and decorative way and each spring he gives them a touch up to make sure they always look shiny and fresh, which is a great joy when you happen to pass by.

Incidentally, in one of the workshop windows you can see the top four steps from the tower of Our Savior's Church, which he got as payment for some work he did during one of the restorations.

Take a picture of yourself, your GPS or something with your Geocaching name on it in front of the griffins.

WP2: The decorated house in Sofiegade

In Sofiegade (Sophie Street) is a beautifully decorated house, which was built as far back as 1783.

The house is located at Sofiegade 4 and it is occupied by the Helth Art Gallery, where you can find art by artists such as Henry Heerup, Asger Jorn, Jørgen Nash and Andy Warhol plus some lesser known but interesting artists.

The beautiful front of the house is created by the artist Tina Sonnichsen, who also sells her art at Helth Art Gallery, and it always brightens up your day when you pass by this house.

Take a picture of yourself, your GPS or something with your Geocaching name on it in front of the house.

WP3: Will Eisner's mural of Gerhard Shnobble - The Man Who Could Fly

The American cartoonist Will Eisner (1917-2005), who is best known for his great, colorful and funny comic books about The Spirit, visited Denmark multiple times in connection with workshops, TV appearances, exhibitions of his work and lectures.

The City of Copenhagen worked together with Will Eisner in 1995 to decorate the gable on the corner of Torvegade and Christianshavns Voldgade with a motive from a very atypical Spirit story from 1948, where The Spirit is reduced to a secondary character in the story of Gerhard Shnobble - The Man Who Could Fly.

That short story is one of mine (and Will Eisner's) favorite stories from The Spirit universe, and I can only recommend that you seek it out along with other stories about The Spirit.

Take a picture of yourself, your GPS or something with your Geocaching name on it in front of the mural.

LOGGING REQUIREMENTS: Take a picture each of the three places where you, your GPS or something with your Geocaching name on appear and upload the pictures with your log. Logs without the required pictures will be deleted.

Note: If you need an app, that can make a collage of the three pictures to upload in the official Geocaching App along with your log, I can recommend Photo Collage Editor from MeiHillMan or similar for Android smartphones and Collage Maker or similar for iPhone.
