Geocache Description:

First, find Willoughby Lake and head South on Route 5A (route adjacent to lake). About 0.5 miles past the south end of the lake, there is a parking area on the right side of the road (if still heading south on 5A). The trailhead is across the road from the parking area.

The trail is well-traveled in both winter and summer. There are various lake outlooks along the way. If you search out the cache during the winter, take notice of the great ice cascades on the western slope. Typically, you can see ice climbers climbing the cascades.

You will find the peak of Mt. Pisgah when you reach some large rocks with no tree cover (2874 ft., N 44º 43.755’ W 72º 1.818’). Looking south from this point, you can note a beautiful view that includes Burke Ski Area. This is about a 1500 foot climb of 2-miles in length. Continue on the trail until you find the lake outlook from the top of the mountain (2780 ft., N 44º 43.829’ W 72º 2.005’). This view is the real prize of the cache!

The cache is located off-trail between the rocky peak and the peak’s lake outlook. As you approach the coordinates, the stash is about 30 paces off-trail. There is a large tree with 2 large limbs broken and hanging to the ground. The cache is under the tree and visible if looking at the base of the tree.

Good luck and happy geo-caching!
