Geocache Description:

The Missing Link

This is one of four caches hidden along the so-called "Missing Link", a mile long section of the original 'Downs Link' path (near Christs Hospital) which has been closed for 50 years.

The resurrection of this section came about as a result of a campaign started by a now retired local police officer in 1999 when he was still in the service.

This new part of the Downs Link was to be formally opened on April 24th 2020 at 12:45 p.m. Due to the impact of Covid-19, officially known as the “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the planned ceremony was cancelled. No new date for an official opening of the section has been made public but, after some final upgrading work carried out on the new section during the last couple of weeks, the "Missing Link" has now been informally opened.

There is some free parking available on nearby roads in Christs Hospital or on Mill Lane off Weston's Hill.

You are looking for a 470 ml screw-top container double boxing a 35mm film pot with logsheets

This cache is part of a series created with cycling in mind. It can of course be found on foot though, from wherever you may begin or end your caching journey, you will probably need to return along the same route or use 2 cars, leaving your second at another point along the trail.

We have created a list of this series including caches set by other owners nearby along the Downs Link trail. We will add new caches to the list as they are created :) Downs Link Bookmark List

More general information about this series, including a range of potential parking locations, can be found on Downs Link - Garden Centre? which is the first cache of the group heading north from West Grinstead Old Station, recognised as the midpoint of the Downs Link bridleway.
