The Cove Point Loop trail, about a 5 mile loop, is very scenic especially once you get to the fault line ridge, a tall cliff that extends east to west with many views along it. The trail skirts the edge of the cliff for maybe a mile before heading back into the woods and completing the loop. This cache is towards the western edge of the ridge, at about the half way point of the loop, where the actual fault, a chasm that runs north and south, bisects the ridge and creates a dramatic point of rock with dramatic views. It is studded with red pine and spruce and creates a really nice spot and it looks like some folks backpacking the SHT have used it as a campsite periodically.
Would not classify it as winter friendly but I believe with the hint and possible hiding spots, the snowshoe savvy hiker would be able to find it.
