Geocache Description:

Another cache along the Cove Point Spur section of the Superior Hiking Trail. Cache is placed at a fine overlook of the Minnesota interior, a great place to take a trail break and sit a while resting your weary feet while either backpacking the SHT or completing the Cove Point Loop on a dayhike. A small to medium size plastic cache container. Would suggest parking at the trailhead along HWY 61 just across from the Cove Point Lodge.

The Cove Point Loop trail, about a 5 mile loop, is very scenic especially once you get to the fault line ridge, a tall cliff that extends east to west with many views along it. The trail skirts the edge of the cliff for maybe a mile before heading back into the woods and completing the loop. This cache is towards the western edge of the ridge, at about the half way point of the loop, where the actual fault, a chasm that runs north and south, bisects the ridge and creates a dramatic point of rock with dramatic views. It is studded with red pine and spruce and creates a really nice spot and it looks like some folks backpacking the SHT have used it as a campsite periodically.

Would not classify it as winter friendly but I believe with the hint and possible hiding spots, the snowshoe savvy hiker would be able to find it.
