Geocache Description:

Almost everyone has played the popular board game “Monopoly”, or at least has heard about it.  The game was "officially" born on March 19, 1935 when Parker Brothers acquired the rights to it from game inventor Charles Darrow.  From the classic board design to the hundreds of other “opoly” spin-offs, it is the best-selling board game in the world, sold in 103 countries and produced in 37 languages.

After archiving the original series a couple of years ago, I decided to redo an entirely new set of Monopoly hides for the area cachers to enjoy.

Mediterranean Avenue is the first property on a standard Monopoly board and as such is impossible to land on before passing GO once. Mediterranean has the lowest rent in the game, but can be a fairly powerful tool. Like Baltic Avenue, it does not gain much rent easily. However, once hotels are built, they can be nasty surprises for those passing GO. These properties can also be crucial to causing a building shortage, due to their low building cost.

Mediterranean is visited the least of all spaces, partly due to the GO TO JAIL space, the effects of cards, and the impossibility of rolling a one.

Top Honors and Congratulations to Mathseeker for FTF! You CAN pass GO and you CAN collect $200!
