An easy cache at the picturesque village of Georgioupolis.

Georgioupolis is situated on the north coast of Crete, between the cities of Chania and Rethymnon (35 km to the west of Chania, 25 km to the east of Rethymnon). It is a popular vacation resort with a 9 km long beach and the three rivers that meet the sea at the village; the largest, Almiros, a wildlife refuge, creates a small harbour for fishing and tourist boats.
Archaeological evidence points to Georgioupoli as the site of ancient Amfimala, the port of Lappa, a classical city at modern Argyroupolis.
The cache is hidden by one of the rivers near Kalyvaki beach.
It is a plastic container wrapped in a plastic bag. It contains a logbook, a pen, the Geocaching note in English and Greek and some goodies to trade. Good shoes are recommended, as the rocks can be slippery.
After you have found it, please take special care that it is well hidden. Mind that muggles from the swimming pool on the opposite side are not watching you.
Η Γεωργιούπολη βρίσκεται στη Βόρεια Κρήτη, περίπου 35 χλμ ανατολικά των Χανίων και 25 χλμ δυτικά του Ρεθύμνου. Είναι δημοφιλής τόπος παραθερισμού γιατί διαθέτει μια παραλία μήκους 9 χλμ και τρία ποτάμια που χύνονται στη θάλασσα εκεί. Το μεγαλύτερο, ο Αλμυρός, που είναι και καταφύγιο άγριας ζωής, λειτουργεί ως λιμανάκι για μικρά σκάφη και ψαρόβαρκες.
Αρχαιολογικές έρευνες υποδεικνύουν ότι στη Γεωργιούπολη βρισκόταν η αρχαία Αμφιμάλα, το επίνειο της αρχαίας Λάππας στη σημερινή Αργυρούπολη.
Η κρύπτη βρίσκεται στο ένα ποταμάκι στην παραλία Καλυβάκι.
Είναι ένα πλαστικό ταπεράκι τυλιγμένο με πλαστική σακούλα. Περιέχει ένα μπλοκάκι, ένα στυλό, το σημείωμα του geocaching στα Ελληνικά και Αγγλικά και κάτι ψιλοπράγματα για ανταλλαγή.Χρειάζονται κλειστά παπούτσια γιατί οι βράχοι γλιστράνε.
Αφού το βρείτε, βεβαιωθείτε παρακαλώ ότι το αφήνετε καλά κρυμμένο. Προσοχή στους κοινούς θνητούς που μπορεί να σας βλέπουν από την πισίνα απέναντι.
