Geocache Description:

A short multi-cache visiting Cove Harbour, one of the most picturesque spots on the coast between Edinburgh and Berwick. The starting point is less than half a mile from the A1.

Park at the given coordinates. A panel above the cliffs gives information about the history of Cove and its little harbour. Note the historic barometer at the north-east corner of the car park.

Stage 1. N55° 56.293 W 002° 21.197 The Memorial.
This memorial to the widows and children of Cove has only very recently been put in place. It commemorates one of the most tragic days in the history of fishing on this coast, when on the 14th October 1881 the local east coast fishing fleet was caught by a sudden hurricane. Eyemouth lost 129 men in the tragedy but many other villages suffered greatly. From the inscription, 1AB fishermen were lost that day. Cove lost 11 out of C1

Follow the road downhill, past the tunnel on your right until you arrive at the sea wall protecting the harbour.

Stage 2 N 55° 56.295 W 002° 20.710 The Harbour Mouth.
At the very end there are D steps up to the top of the sea wall.

Now retrace your steps back up the road until you come to the tunnel. Walk through the tunnel to get into the harbour basin. (At low water it may be possible to go down the stone steps from the sea wall to the harbour basin but take great care if attempting this route).

Stage 3 N 55° 56.228 W 002° 20.731 Railings
There are EF uprights on the metal railings beside the pink house.

If you look east from the breakwater you should be able to see a fine sea arch cut in the red sandstone.

The coordinates of the cache are N 55° 56.CB(F-4) W 002° 20.AE(D-1)

Enjoy the beautiful setting. This can be a very popular area so exercise discretion and try not to attract the attention of other visitors when retrieving the cache.

Note The terrain is only rated 3 because a modest scramble is required to the cache itself. you are advised to approach from the beach. The going is easy for the earlier stages.

The coordinates may be a bit iffy due to the cliff immediately above the cache site but should get you to the right general area and the clue should help.
