A Geocaching CITO in the Spring time to help the National Trust by doing a litter pick along some of the popular walks around Wicken Fen (NOT in the part that there is an entry fee for).
The new official Groundspeak Spring CITO 2018 souvenir will be available for anyone attending a CITO event during the week of April 21–29 2018, and this event will count for your souvenir.
What is it?
The National Trust have kindly allowed us to organise a CITO event so that local (and not so local) geocachers can help clear litter from some of the popular walks in Wicken Fen along Harrison's Drove, and between the 'cock-up' bridge at Burwell Lode across to the bridge over Reach Lode (as shown in yellow on the map below)
What we can do:
This will be our fourth CITO event in the area, and we hope to work with the National Trust so that as geocachers we can help keep our environment free of litter. If you can help, please do come along - litter pickers and binbags provided (we suggest you bring gloves and drinks!)
When:
10.00 to 12.00 noon 21 April 2018
Where:
Meet at the end of Harrison's Drove near the 'cock-up' bridge over Burwell Lode where there is a small car park. This is marked s a yellow star on the map below. Access by car is via Burwell, not Wicken (turn left at the T-junction at Priory Farm).
Before or after:
There are various pubs in the villages of Wicken and Burwell which serve food at lunchtimes, along with small grocery stores and takeaways if you want some lunch afterwards, and there are many geocaches in and around Wicken and Burwell including Traditional, Multi, Puzzle, Wherigo, Earthcache and Letterbox types which can be included in any caching plans!
