This cache is part of a serie in Caen that will transport you into History...

La cache est situee a l'etage !

Alchimiste renommé et financier avisé, Nicolas Le Valois d'Escoville fit une rapide fortune "dans le commerce des blés avec l'Espagne".

Sur la place principale de la ville, il fit élever en 1535 ce somptueux hôtel dans le style de la Renaissance.
Loggia, hautes toitures, lanternons et lucarnes rappellent l'architecture du château de Chambord.

Autour de deux grandes statues de David et de Judith (longtemps considérées comme oeuvres florentines), la décoration savante mèle thèmes d'inspiration biblique et thèmes profanes issus de l'antiquité.

Ruiné en 1944, l'hôtel a fait l'objet d'importantes restaurations

The cache is on the 1st floor !

The severe façade overlooking the public road harbours one of the most typical private town houses of the 16th century. In the courtyard, loggia, high roofs, lanterns and skylights are characteristic of the Italian Renaissance.

Devastated in 1944, the hotel underwent major restoration work and is today the office of tourism of Caen.
