Geocache Description:

Up murphy dome road then out the minto flats "road" near the top, then one mile off of that road. Great hike. 1:15 to cache. Please hike and save the trails and quiet.

9/2017***update- We are in the states now and miss Alaska so much. I just put to rest the second of my two sled dogs (age 15) from Fairbanks. They were with me when I made this cache. If anyone sees this and wants to go find it, could you rebuild this cache with a new box, journal and writing utensils? Would you try to place it in the right place and name it: The Koyuk and Sweetpea Cache!!!! Let me know if you do!!! Thanks!!! Miss you all!!!
Also, can someone let me know if the photo of my kids are still in there? If so....you would make my year if you posted a photo of that photo...if that makes sense. I miss them both so much!!! They were amazing!!! Man I miss those trails!!!!!

Okay. This is my first cache, so please let me know if it is a good set up. The contents include a book, (Illusions by Richard Bach) one of my favorites. I would appreciate it if folks would open it randomly and read a passage or a page or two. Then if you would, write in the journal what page you read and what it made you think about. Or write an impromptu poem, or i guess what ever you like. There is a picture of my dogs (my children). I think it would be cool if people added pics of their pets too??

Location: Go up murphy dome road. When you are almost to the top there is a rough, rocky road that goes off to the left. This road is to Minto Flats/river. If you park there or turn and drive (.1) miles there is a little pull out to park. Most cars can handle the road to this little parking lot.

When you get to this little pull out on the minto trail, make a waypoint. Now walk out the trail 2.07 miles on your GPS (this will be as the crow would fly) but it will be 2.07. You will have just come up a hill and leveled out a bit. There will be a right turn for cars where people like to be lazy and drive out these 2 miles. Turn right here and head out toward the little knob you will see. It is one mile away. There is a very used and destroyed trail (by ATVs) that will take you there. No hints are needed if you take the time. It is not on top of that knob- too obvious. All I will say for now is that the feature i put it in...CLEARLY points north.

I am psyched to see if anyone goes to it. Please let me know what you think of the spot and directions. I love that spot. It is a great walk in winter too! It may last into winter depending on drifts and wind!
