Greater Volusia Tennis League, Racquet Tennis Center
The Greater Volusia Tennis League, GVTL, is an adult tennis league for tennis club members in Volusia and southern Flagler Counties. The Racquet Tennis Center, or RTC, in New Smyrna Beach is my club and consequently rates a large cache as well as number one in what will be a series of caches highlighting the GVTL member clubs. There are about 20 clubs that participate with about 1500 players in the league. About half a dozen active levels of play for both men and women are provided as well as several mixed doubles leagues. Play is mostly doubles as court time at member clubs can be at a premium. RTC wins it's fair share of the annual chanpionships and is one of the more active clubs in the league.
The cache is a camoed large plastic jar with the normal swag and a FTF buck. It is located in the parking lot 20 feet N of a utility pole. It is made to be an easy find for a cacher but out of sight of muggles. If it isn't an easy find, then something is wrong and let me know. Don't tear up the landscaping. The container is large and should be easy. Between 8AM and 12:30 PM it will be pretty busy during snowbird season. Not so much during the summer. 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 are court change times and +/- 10 min will be pretty busy in the parking lot. Evening play is normal during the week, but please stay away after 9 PM. Court prep people arrive about 6 AM. Owners have approved this cache. No bushwacking.
