10 Years! Brewer ME - USA Community Celebration Event

This cache has been archived.

hollora: The event is over and a good time had by all, I would say. There are a few coins and trackable which are not logged - I sure hope folks do log them. One - The Sound of Music - I know was a new bug for some fairly new cachers and they were excited to watch it move. I retrieved all the trackables which were not gone when the room was cleaned up so someone has to have them. Please log them!

And if you own one which has not been logged - don't give up.........you never know when it will pop up again. Sometimes folks are just shy to log them if they held them for a while AND they can drop into a pocket or caching bag for a while without being discovered. A lot was going on at the event.

As for the coins sold at the event - after taking the ones not sold (there weren't a lot) to the Southern Events - they are all gone. One was donated to caching friends in MA to do fund raising for a rally they will be doing this summer. It sold well on Ebay - so to you folks who may have bought an extra........you have an investment to either sell OR folks are begging for trades on the Geocoin Forums.

Thank you everyone for coming, making this a memorable event and sharing in the celebration of 10 Years! Cache On ~ Cache Happy!

Geocache Description:

TIME TO PARTY - PHOTO @ 12:30PM It has been 10 years! 10 years ago geocaching began when the military flipped the switch and increased the accuracy for all of us little folk. Dave Ulmer went out and hid a 5 gallon bucket in the woods in Oregon and placed the coordinates online. Voila Geocaching is born. This event will be part of a World Wide Multi Event.

The event will start late morning at the posted coordinates which is the site of an event center. The doors will open at 11AM and folks are welcome from then until we depart at 2P. The event will close promptly at 2P and the hostess will depart so we all can partake of more weekend festivities. The venue has graciously opened their doors so we can celebrate. We will meet in the upstairs event room so will be private and have lots of space. They have agreed to provide staff upstairs to help with our food and beverage requirements. They have pizza, subs, burgers, etc and a full line of beverages including beer. I will have some games, and some prizes. Some games will be for newbies and I hope some for the more experienced caching group. Ekidokai will also have a special game. 10 Year Multi Event Group coins - THEY HAVE ARRIVED - will be for sale at the event (no sales before the event)! These will not be sold in advance! If you want one of these coins you must attend this event (or send someone to purchase for you). 100 coins were made in the "Maine" colors. First come - first served - sales will start when the event opens. There will be at least 75 of the Maine Coin available at this event. To make this fair to all attendees, I have decided to limit sales to 4 per person. If I have any coins left, I will bring them with me to the other weekend events I attend. The coin has shades of purple, gold and red (see background of cache page). Trade requests have already been received and folks know they will be waiting until after the event. Coins will be $10/each - cash preferred (correct bills even better) and no credit cards. No doubt these coins will be very collectible. Some folks are already clamouring to get their hands on all the varieties. Tickets for the Relay for Life Quilt raffle will also be available. $2 each or 3 for $5. Two of the Maine Geocacher's team were involved with making the quilt. See Mainiac1957 for tickets. Bring yourself and be ready for a fun time. This will be a casual Meet N Greet. There will be a photo taken about 12:30 - so please plan on arriving by then. You wouldn't want to miss the photo would you? Photo clothing - something fun - you can get funky - whatever - we want them to know we are having fun! And Ekidokai's game will follow. No pressure, no worries, no cooking, no need to purchase anything, just come and enjoy fellow cachers. The goup photo is to meet the requirements of Groundspeak for this special event! And this event should have a new and very special icon. I regret to say - we can not allow dogs inside the venue. Hopefully in May it will be warm enough for them inside vehicles for a bit but not to warm. They are welcome on the grounds (of course if you pick up) AND if needed - please let me know and I will bring a doggie Ex-Pen (lightweight). Haven't heard from anyone we need this - please let me know by Friday at 6PM. There are caches in the area. As always - Questions, just ask. Hope to see you there!
