In 1707, Leonhard Euler was born. He had high hopes of being famous, courteous of being one of the best mathematicians of his time. He put his time and effort into creating a unique, important irrational number, aptly named Euler’s number (or e for short). E is useful in numerous mathematical concepts, from compound interest to calculus. It even made itself a button on millions of calculators, no thousands of sub-menus to go through to find e. But no, Euler is not a household name. Euler’s hard work is always overshadowed by it lead competitor: p (pi). Pi and its circles was all Euler heard about till his death in 1783. Pi is so loved it was given 3/14 as its very own holiday. No one bothered, on the other hand, to declare 2/7 as Euler’s Day.

In honor of Pi Day, G.A.S.P. and MacFive we will be hosting an event to celebrate this great number!
