Zum Namen des
Caches |
- Der erste Teil des Cachenamens ist Gruss der
Bergleute.
|
- Die Aachener Region wird im Volksmund auch das Siebengebirge
genannt. Dieser Name hat einen historischen Hintergrund. Vor gut 6
Jahren (23/03/1997) schloss mit Sophia-Jacoba die letzte
Kohlegrube, oder im Volksmund auch Zeche, der Aachener
Bergbauregion. Die Zechen hiessen

Lauerweg in Herzogenrath-Kohlscheid
Adolf in Herzogenrath-Merkstein
Anna in Alsdorf-Busch
Maria Hauptschacht in Alsdorf-Mariadorf
Emil-Mayrisch in Siersdorf

Auf dieser Karte habe ich die Zechen einmal eingezeichnet:

Die Zeche Sophia-Jacoba liegt am Rande des Aachener Flötzes
etwa 30km nördlich. Sie passte leider nicht mehr auf die
Karte. |
Der Aushub der Zechen musste natürlich irgendwo gelagert werden.
Somit entstanden die Halden oder auch Zechenberge. Wenn Du jetzt
die Zechen durchzählst, wirst du merken, dass es mehr Zechen als
Halden gibt. Das liegt daran, dass verschiedene Zechen sich eine
Halde geteilt haben. Auf jeden Fall gibt es heute noch 7 Halden,
die der Region den Namen gegeben haben. Überall im Kreis gibt es
kleine und größere Andenken an den Bergbau, der den Kreis Aachen so
nachhaltig geprägt hat. Auch kann man an der RWTH in Aachen immer
noch Bergbau studieren. |
In der Nähe der ersten Station hat man dann auch
einen solchen Ausblick auf die anderen Halden. Bei Gelegenheit
werde ich diese auch noch mal auf dem Bild mit Namen versehen.

Der Cache selber ist ein Abflussrohr mit 50mm Durchmesser. Es ist
etwa 20cm lang. Es passen also nur Gegenstände rein, die nicht
besonders gross sind. Auf dem Bild siehst Du, was ich zu Beginn in
den Cache getan habe.

- Munition für den Garmin
- Feuerzeug aus Straubing, Bayern
- 4 holländische Münzen (1 Gulden, 3 x 10 Cent)
- 3 Ü-Ei-Figuren
- Mini-Micky-Mouse-Heft.

Am Besten ist es, wenn Du Deinen Wagen bei N 50° 55,278' und E 6°
6,973' parkst. Dort findest Du am Einkaufszentrum einen grossen
Parkplatz. Sollte dort kein Platz mehr sein, so findest Du ein paar
Meter weiter einen grossen Parkplatz am Aldi. Dort dürfte
eigentlich immer ein freies Plätzchen zu finden sein.
Von dort aus kannst Du Dich auf den Weg zu N 50° 55,571', E 6°
07,200' machen. Es sollte etwa eine dreiviertel Stunde
Wanderung sein. Allerdings geht es, je nachdem welchen Weg Du
wählst, ein bißchen steil bergan.
An genannter Position findest Du eine Dose, in der sich ein Zettel
mit dem Koordinaten des Caches befindet. Bitte die Dose
nicht öffnen, der Zettel ist auch so lesbar. Der Cache liegt
nun noch etwa 200 m entfernt an einer Böschung. Das Gelände ist am
Ende ziemlich steil und rutschig und deshalb auch 3,5 Sterne für
das Terrain. Er ist bedeckt mit etwas Laub und einem Stein. Im
Sommer solltest Du auf jeden Fall eine lange Hose tragen, da die
Vegetation dannn ein bißchen dichter ist und die Sträucher auch
Dornen haben.
Solltest Du die Filmdose nicht finden, so habe ich an dem grossen
Objekt meine Telefonnummer hinterlassen. Sie steht dort in der Form
GxCy, wobei x und y jeweils Ziffern sind. Die Nummer lautet
xy494x2. Die Vorwahl findest dU bei den Ziffern. Solltest Du alles
finden, so kannst Du mich anrufen und ich werde Dir sagen, wo ich
zusätzlich noch die Koordinaten des Caches hinterlassen habe.

- The first part of the cachename is the german salutation of the
pitmen.

- The region of Aachen is called the "Siebengebirge". This name
has a historical background: About 6 years ago (23/03/1997) the
last coalmine (In our slang it's called "Zeche") of the area was
closed. The name of this coalmine was Sophia-Jacoba in
Hueckelhoven. The names of the other mines of this areas were:

I have tried to plot the locations of the coalmines into this
map:

The mine Sophia-Jacoba is located at the border of the coal
area about 30km northwards. There was not enough space to draw it
into the map. |
The excavation of this mines had to be stored somewhere. Because
of this the dumps or in slang "Zechenberge" were formed. When you
are counting the mines, you will notice that there are more mines
than dumps. The reason for this is, that some mines had one dump
together. Other dumps don't exist anymore. The slag of the dumps
was filled into the old mines. In fact there are 7 dumps that have
given the region its name.
There are little and big remains of the mining, which has
influenced Aachen in such a way, everywhere in the district. You
can even study mining at the university of Aachen
today. |
Near the first station you have a view like this to
all the other dumps. At the next opportunity I will sign the dumps
in this pictures with names.

The Cache is a waste pipe with a bore of 50mm. It is about 20cm
long. So there's only enought space for little things. On the
picture you can see what I have first put into the cache.

It would be the best, when you park your car atN 50° 55,278' und E
6° 6,973'. There you will find a parking space. If there is not
enought space for your car you will find a very big parking space
in about 200 meters at ALDI.
Now you can go to N 50° 55,571', E 6° 7,200'. It yould dure
about 45 minutes. But it can be a little steep, dependent on the
way you choose.
At the position you will find a micro. Please do not open the box.
The coordinates are readable, when the box is closed. There's a a
piece of paper with the final coordinates in it. The cache is about
200 meters away in an acclivity. The terrain at the end of the
track is very steep and slippery. Thats the reasons for 3.5 stars
for the terrain. The cache is covered with some leaves and a big
stone. In summer it would be advisable when you wear long trousers
because the bushes are more densely and have thorns.
For the case that you can't find the film canister, I left the
number of my celluar phone at the big object. It is written like
GxCy. x and y are digits which you have to replace in the number
abcd/xy494x2. You will find the rest of the number (abcd) written
under GxCy. When you can find my number you can call me and I wil
give you some hints, where I have left the coodinates of the cache,
too.
