Another Mt. Marathon Bowl Cache. This cache is placed in a part of the bowl that is seldom visited by hikers. The view to the north looks down into the Japanese Creek drainage.
I had to place this cache while going up to find "Jeep Trail 2" (GC1GT92)and Marathon Cirque Cache (GC1GG6K).
I just couldn't allow the season to close without offering a few of the locals an opportunity to nab yet another cache and get in one more hike to this beautiful area.
With the placement of this cache the intrepid geocacher will have a great opportunity to get a tour of the Mt. Marathon bowl. I recommend grabbing all the caches on the way up the trail. As you enter the Bowl grab the Mt. Marathon Bowl Cache (GC13P61). Then continue on to the Marathon Cirque Cache (GC1GG6K). From there head back down the scree field and as you begin to walk on mosses and greenery, keep going down the slope as you make your way to the north to grab this cache.
There are several caches to find on Mt. Marathon and this leads me to ask: Is Mt. Marathon becoming geocache saturated? How many more can this mountain sustain?
