Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Rushmore Lions Nature Park. At the time of the 1972 flood in Rapid City this area had 40 homes and 100 residents. After the flood, only two homes were left and about 20 people had died. Today this former creek side neighborhood is a 10 acre park and memorial to those who lost their lives in the flood . The 3/4 mile long trail is covered in gravel and offers access to fishing along Rapid Creek.

* Imagine you are on a safari in untamed woods. Safest way to reach this hide is to follow the walking path around until you are near Rapid Creek. *. * *. * ..<<(Avoid bushwhacking! Don’t just follow the arrow!)>>*. . *. *. * Keep your gaze steady for lions that may be roaming this “Jungle” area. Remember that lions keep a low profile in the wild. The towering cottonwood trees provide a cathedral like canopy. Please replace container as you found it. Must sign the log book to earn a “Found”. Kid friendly swag. You might want to wear long pants .
