Geocache Description:

This is the gully which flanks the southern side of the Bluff Hill Domain and was purchased by the Napier City Council in 1967. In so doing, an area covered with a dense stand of mature trees was acquired for the City. The Reserve is named after an Austrian botanist and nurseryman Frederick William Christian Sturm, who established a plant nursery here in about 1865. Walking tracks lead from entrances on Lighthouse and Hornsey Roads to link up with the Bluff Hill lookout point.

Best parking is in Hornsey Road carpark at the bottom of the reserve, the cache is located close to the centre of the reserve, and is all uphill from here but an easy downhill walk back to your car.
Head East and follow the signs to sturms gully, when in the centre of the gully follow the path uphill to a view point that will let you see across to westshore & bayview
After you have located the cache carry on up the hill to the bluff hill lookout for a better view of the bay
