Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden along the Upper Creek Trail in the Belmont Open Space preserve, a small but wonderful open space with a creek and canyon surrounded by houses.

The cache is a small camouflaged container, which can probably be reached with one foot still on the trail. Definitely no bushwhacking required. Small trade and sig items will fit, but bring your own pen.

PARKING: You can get to this cache from the high road (recommended for the nice views of the canyon) or the low road. Parking coordinates are listed below.

There are new trail markers up in this Open Space, but no take-one trail maps. Here's a City of Belmont Open Space Trail Map.

Dogs on leash permitted.
Some trails, including the trail this cache is on, are very popular with mountain bike riders, so watch out!
Lots of ticks here of course, but cache placement tries to minimize tick exposure.
Park hours are sunrise to sunset.

Warning Added 7/11/2005: A MOUNTAIN LION WAS REPORTEDLY SEEN IN THIS PARK ON 7/11/2005 NEAR THE Hastings Tot Lot cache (see GCPEJE for report) JUST 0.3 MILES FROM HERE, SO BE PREPARED BEFORE ENTERING THE PARK.
Note Added 7/5/2005: THERE WAS A POSSIBLE MOUNTAIN LION SIGHTING AT THE NEARBY Hastings Tot Lot cache (GCPEJE) ON 7/3/2005, SO PLEASE HEED THE MOUNTAIN LION WARNING SIGNS POSTED AT THE TRAILHEADS.
