Winchester Wasteway
The Winchester Wasteway, which runs right by this rest stop, is the result of the need for irrigation on the Columbia Plateau. This man-made channel provides that and, as a side bonus, has created what has been called "one of most wonderfully obscure paddling routes in the lower 48 states."
The area around the Wasteway is a sportsman's dream. Waterfowl flock to the area in spring and early summer to nest, and bass and perch fishing is a popular activity.
The cache is a microcapsule containing a log scroll. There is no room for a pen or pencil, so please bring your own to sign the log. Please be sure to conceal the container as best as possible after you have logged your find in order to help avoid accidental finds.
