Geocache Description:

A Face in Stone
Osborne, KS

The Osborne County Courthose was built in 1907-08. It's a beautiful building built from the area's Post Rock in a Romanesque styling.

While the work was being done it was watched over by a local "Sidewalk Superintendent." His name was John Wineland. Although he was not involved in the actual building he was always "hanging around-watching." When it came time for the rock carver to cut the stone that is on the south side of the clock tower, the carver cut his face into it and it is there today to view.

From the coordinates, you can look to the north, up at the courthouse clock tower and see it.

To claim credit for a find, visit the site and then, Email me something about the face features of John Wineland and tell me what is below his face.. Please don't post a picture or the answer in your log.
