Situated in Stockton, inbetween Long-Newton and Egglescliffe, Coatham wood is a newly planted community woodland, with the first trees planted in 1999. There are 2 waymarked routes to help you find your way around the site or just wander along the many mown rides
About Coatham Wood Dog Activity Trail
A woodland trail featuring activities for you and your dog on the way round. Look out for obstacles such as hurdles, woody weaves and the log walk and let your dog cool off with a well earned swim!
Coatham Wood Dog Activity Trail can be started from Coatham Wood Car Park in Coatham Wood. Long Newton is the nearest town or village.
The car park is situated on the minor road between Long Newton just off the A66 and Urlay Nook, north of Eaglescliffe and Yarm
It follows the yellow walk until after the bridge and then returns on the green walk loop. Length of trail:
1.5 miles Approximate time of trail:1 hr
Look out for the owl boxes- this site has 7 to try to encourage the many birds of prey seen here. All 5 species of British owl have been spotted on this site

Cache is a small lock lock style container which contains log book, pencil and a few swaps. Box is big enough for GC's and smaller TB's
Lilly's Loop comprises of 6 caches, all the caches are on or close to the dog trail. The ground can get quite muddy in wet weather so you might need your wellies.
