A golden ammo can hidden along a clear but unmarked bike trail in
Granite Knolls Park!
It was the summer of 2009. All of these notifications kept popping
up on my Facebook wall.... "Bacmac found this cache", "Bacmac found
that cache" "FTF!" "DNF" Like a fool, I asked what it all meant,
and worse, I then asked if they'd take me out to try this
geocaching stuff. Needless to say, I got hooked.
So, fast-forward to the summer of 2011. My good friends and
geo-mentors Team Bacmac have reached their 2000 milestone. Since I
knew nothing about golden ammo cans when they reached 1000, I am
honoring them now at 2000. Of course, they hit the milestone, and
went on vacation, and then I went on vacation, and then we had some
Hurricanes, and school started, and...and...and, well, so they are
well over 2000 by now, but I've finally gotten this thing
hidden!
Team Bacmac consists of a husband and wife (Bac and Mac), their 2
kids, and Freya the vicious German Shephard. Both Bac and Mac
originally hail from the state of Maine. I had a thought to fill
this cache with items honoring that state. Unfortunately, I had
this thought 2 days AFTER I returned from Maine. So, that idea flew
out the window, and the cache is stocked with random items instead.
However, I left a purple gel pen for you all to sign with. I know
it will make Mac happy.
You can access the trails in Granite Knolls from the Yorktown
Taconic Trailway, and can reach this location from the main, marked
trails, or from an unmarked but obvious bike entrance across from
my other cache "Friday Stroll" (GC2V886) Parking coords for the YTT
are listed below.
Congratulations to Team Bacmac!! Thanks for your contributions to
local geocaching and for getting me involved!
